Sci-Tech Innovation 50 ETFs saw significant collective gains during afternoon trading. At the time of writing, the PP Sci-Tech Innovation 50 ETF (03151) was up 4.28%, trading at HK$12.9. The Bosera Sci-Tech Innovation 50 ETF (02832) rose 3.75% to HK$13.28, while the China Southern Sci-Tech Innovation Board 50 ETF (03109) increased by 3.73% to HK$17.78.
The catalyst for this movement stems from recent regulatory announcements. On June 17th, Wu Qing, Chairman of the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC), delivered a keynote speech at the 2026 Lujiazui Forum. He announced that the scope of application for the fifth set of listing standards will be expanded to include the artificial intelligence sector.
Concurrently, he stated that reforms to the ChiNext board will be deepened in an orderly manner, with increased support for new types of consumption and modern service industries. This initiative aims to better serve the development of growth-oriented, innovative, and entrepreneurial enterprises.
Wu Qing further commented that global financial assets are currently undergoing a profound rebalancing and reallocation. He noted that the safety value, resilience value, and innovation value of Chinese assets are drawing widespread attention and favor from international investors.
Following these developments, the Sci-Tech Innovation 50 Index surged by over 4% at one point during the afternoon session on June 17th.
