According to sources on Wednesday, SK Hynix has secured over two-thirds of the high-bandwidth memory (HBM) supply orders from U.S. tech giant NVIDIA for the Vera Rubin artificial intelligence (AI) platform scheduled for production this year.
Sources indicated that NVIDIA has allocated approximately 70% of its HBM4 requirements for this advanced AI architecture to SK Hynix, surpassing market expectations of around 50%.
Industry research firm Counterpoint Research recently projected that by 2026, SK Hynix will capture 54% of the global HBM4 market share, with Samsung Electronics ranking third at 28%, and Micron Technology fourth at 18%.
An industry insider stated, "As HBM4 mass production begins this year, the market is entering a new phase."
Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix are widely anticipated to announce their respective HBM4 business strategies on Thursday when they report earnings.
Sources also mentioned that NVIDIA and AMD have recently completed quality testing for Samsung Electronics' HBM4 products, with official supply expected to commence next month.
