The pass rate for the national routine monitoring of agricultural product quality and safety reached 98.5% in the first quarter of this year. From January to March, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs conducted routine monitoring for agricultural product quality and safety, testing 7,517 samples across 125 varieties in four major categories—vegetables, fruits, livestock products, and aquatic products. The monitoring covered 132 parameters, with an overall pass rate of 98.5%. Specifically, the pass rates for vegetables, fruits, livestock products, and aquatic products were 98.8%, 96.2%, 99.3%, and 97.7%, respectively.
In response to issues identified during the monitoring, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs has forwarded information on non-compliant samples to local agricultural authorities for timely handling, following a mechanism of immediate reporting and transfer. A relevant official stated that the next steps will include continuous efforts to address key problems such as pesticide residues in agricultural products, strengthen quality and safety supervision, crack down on the illegal use of prohibited and restricted drugs, and strictly manage excessive residues of conventional pesticides. Efforts will also be made to promote the cultivation of improved varieties, enhance product quality, build strong brands, and advance standardized production. The ministry will work to establish evaluation and grading systems for agricultural product quality, expand the production of green, organic, specialty, and geographically indicated products, and increase the supply of high-quality, safe agricultural products.
