BOE Jingjin Partners with Shanghai Film to Establish Joint Venture, Targeting Cinema Market

According to Qichacha's official website, Shangying Dongfang (Shanghai) Culture Technology Co., Ltd. was recently established with a registered capital of 50 million yuan. The company's shareholders include BOE Jingjin Technology Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Film Co.,Ltd. The company's business scope encompasses electronic component wholesale, mechanical and electrical equipment sales, software sales, semiconductor lighting device sales, electronic vacuum device sales, lighting equipment sales, stationery retail, calculator equipment sales, home appliance parts sales, home appliance sales, intelligent vehicle equipment sales, computer hardware and software and auxiliary equipment retail, electronic special equipment sales, display device sales, construction engineering, and specialized construction operations.

During the Shanghai International Film Festival in June this year, BOE and Shanghai Film Co.,Ltd. jointly announced the establishment of the joint venture Shangying Dongfang, focusing on exploring innovative applications in immersive experiences and smart display terminals. Prior to this, both parties had already collaborated in the film sector, conducting conceptual cinema renovations, LED cinema upgrades, and cooperative brand promotions to create a new integrated cinema model and cultural space combining "technology + brand."

According to available information, Shanghai Film Co.,Ltd., one of the shareholders of Shangying Dongfang, is among the first state-owned film enterprises to achieve A-share main board listing in China. Its main business covers film distribution and screening, copyright operation and sales, cinema chain and theater operations, online ticketing and membership services, as well as investment, development, and operation of cinemas and cultural facilities.

BOE Jingjin Technology is a wholly-owned subsidiary of BOE. Since its establishment in 2020, the company has leveraged semiconductor display technology, high-efficiency transfer printing technology, and proprietary driving architecture technology to create a Mini/Micro LED product portfolio centered on active driving technology and glass-based (COG) solutions, with coordinated development of COB/SMD technologies.

In cinema applications, BOE Jingjin Technology has launched the BOE MLED Cinema Screen BTR series, featuring performance characteristics such as 100,000:1 ultra-high contrast ratio, 3,840Hz ultra-high refresh rate, 300nit brightness, and 16-bit grayscale technology. The product has been deployed at the SFC Shangying BOE Suprα Super Cinema in Shanghai's Meiluo City.

The establishment of this joint venture may further expand the market space for BOE Jingjin Technology in LED display screen cinema applications, accelerating the application and implementation of LED display screens in the film industry through collaboration with Shanghai Film Co.,Ltd.
