Beijing No. 171 High School Announces Detailed Testing Arrangements for Special Admissions in Arts, Technology, and Sports

On May 12, Beijing No. 171 High School released the detailed testing arrangements for its 2026 special admissions in arts (vocal music, brush calligraphy), technology (robotics, technological innovation), and sports.

For the vocal music (chorus) program, candidates are to assemble at 15:00 on Tuesday, May 19, in Classroom 405, South Building, No. 8 Hepingli North Street. Parents are not permitted to enter the school unless serving as accompanists. The assessment consists of a professional examination worth 80 points and a comprehensive evaluation worth 20 points. The professional examination includes a 20-point written test on music fundamentals, a 30-point vocal performance test, a 5-point pitch imitation test, and a 25-point sight-singing and ear-training test.

For the brush calligraphy program, the assembly time is 14:00 on Tuesday, May 19. The test location is at No. 8 Hepingli North Street, in Classrooms 202 and 206 of the South Building. Parents are not allowed to enter. The assessment similarly comprises an 80-point professional test and a 20-point comprehensive evaluation. The professional test is divided into calligraphy copying (30 points), calligraphy creation (40 points), and general knowledge of calligraphy culture (10 points).

For the technology program (robotics and technological innovation), the assembly time is 9:00 on Tuesday, May 19. The test will be held in the basement of the main teaching building at No. 8 Hepingli North Street. Parents are not permitted to enter. Requirements include a self-introduction not exceeding 5 minutes, and candidates must bring their project devices, works, or award-winning papers to the site for a prepared Q&A session.

For the sports program admissions, the assembly time is 14:00 on Tuesday, May 19, at the sports ground of No. 8 Hepingli North Street. Parents are not allowed to enter. After gathering at the sports ground, teachers will guide candidates to their respective testing venues. Before each event begins, each candidate must give a self-introduction within 3 minutes.

Specific test contents are as follows: - Women's Volleyball: Approach jump and reach, basic techniques, specialized position skills, and practical application of techniques and tactics. - Swimming: Main event, secondary event, and 200-meter individual medley. - Track and Field: Standing long jump, two-handed overhead medicine ball throw, 100-meter dash, and a specialized event. - Men's Basketball: Full-court dribbling, passing, and layup drills; one-minute shooting test; game simulation; and specialized vertical jump reach test.
