At approximately 6:00 AM on September 28, Shanghai Border Inspection Headquarters' Waigaoqiao Border Inspection Station received an urgent distress call: a crew member aboard the Maltese-flagged vessel "Diva," sailing in waters near Shanghai, was experiencing sudden chest pain and breathing difficulties, requiring emergency medical evacuation.
Considering that vessel rescue and land transportation would be time-consuming and could delay optimal treatment, the Waigaoqiao Border Inspection Station immediately activated its emergency response plan upon receiving the distress call. The station proactively contacted the East China Sea Rescue Bureau, 120 Emergency Medical Center, and other relevant units to conduct an integrated "sea-land-air" joint rescue operation using a rescue helicopter. Meanwhile, they maintained real-time monitoring of the vessel's position, stayed in contact with the ship, and guided the crew in preparing for helicopter rescue operations.
"Rumble, rumble..." At 8:45 AM that day, the rescue helicopter landed at Shanghai Gaodong Airport. Officers from Shanghai Border Inspection Headquarters' Waigaoqiao Border Inspection Station quickly approached, swiftly processed border inspection procedures for the ill crew member's entry, and assisted in transferring him to an ambulance for transport to a designated hospital for treatment. The injured crew member's condition is currently stable.
Since the beginning of this year, Waigaoqiao Border Inspection Station has actively fulfilled its humanitarian rescue obligations, successfully rescuing over 50 injured and ill crew members with a 100% success rate, effectively contributing to creating a safe and efficient customs clearance environment and safeguarding people's lives and safety.
