As cold waves sweep across the country, natural gas demand continues to rise. Cnooc Limited has coordinated offshore and onshore resources, implementing advance preparations and multiple measures to ensure stable and secure natural gas supply during the winter season.
On November 17, at the Binzhou Natural Gas Processing Plant under Cnooc Limited Tianjin Branch, staff carried out systematic maintenance on gas metering and transmission systems. To meet peak demand, the plant upgraded its insulation and heating systems, adding 36 heating circuits and laying over 1,500 meters of heating pipelines to protect critical equipment such as cooling water systems and instrument pressure lines from freezing risks. Additionally, the plant conducted thorough inspections on 15 fractionation towers, addressing potential hazards promptly. Since the onset of winter, optimized processes and enhanced coordination have enabled the plant to increase daily gas supply by nearly 300,000 cubic meters, with peak daily output exceeding 2.2 million cubic meters.
On November 12, Cnooc Limited Shenzhen Branch achieved a record single-day gas transmission volume through its Gaolan and Hengqin terminals. As the largest natural gas production base in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the Baiyun Gas Field has maximized production potential this year by implementing seven well adjustments and breakthroughs in three key technologies, ensuring stable winter supply for the region.
Meanwhile, Cnooc Limited Zhanjiang Branch has enhanced preventive maintenance and fine-tuned production parameters at the Wenchang 9-2/9-3/10-3 Gas Field, improving operational efficiency. Before winter, the gas field completed 323 hazard rectifications and maintained 19 critical equipment units. Measures such as dynamic adjustments to wet gas compressor parameters and optimized well production regimes have boosted output. For underperforming wells, technical innovations led by field personnel have unlocked additional capacity.
In Yancheng, Jiangsu, Cnooc Limited’s "Green Energy Port" is operating at high storage levels. This year, the facility conducted 23 independent inspections and repairs on major LNG equipment, achieving breakthroughs in operational maintenance capabilities. To reinforce winter supply efforts, a dedicated task force has been established to oversee production scheduling, safety management, real-time monitoring, and emergency preparedness.
