Bitwise CIO: JPMorgan Expects Bitcoin to Be the Top-Performing Asset over the Next 10 Years

Bitwise Chief Investment Officer Matt Hougan shared on X a report titled "2027 Long-Term Capital Market Assumptions" published by J.P. Morgan Asset Management. The report projects that Bitcoin’s annualized compound return over the next 10 years will be 10%, higher than U.S. large-cap equities at 7.5% and gold at 5.5%, and the highest among the asset classes listed in the report.

The report also projects Bitcoin’s annualized arithmetic return to be 20.9%, with an annualized volatility of 55%, significantly higher than U.S. large-cap equities at 18% and gold at 17.2%. Matt Hougan joked that traditional financial institutions have gone from initially ignoring, mocking, and opposing Bitcoin to now including it in long-term capital market forecasts and expecting it to be the best-performing asset class over the next 10 years.

The Related Fund Holds Nearly $1.8 Billion in MSTR, and Strategy Is Facing Potential Removal from the MSCI Index

Market analyst Murphy posted on X platform stating that MSCI officially approved new rules on October 15, excluding non-operational companies that do not meet standards from the global investable market index. Strategy had previously been included in the simulated screening list for potential removal, with the final result to be announced on November 11 and effective as of November 30.

Related index funds hold approximately 13 million shares of MSTR, valued at nearly $1.8 billion, equivalent to 60% of its 30-day average daily trading volume. Murphy stated that Strategy's core logic lies in driving growth in net bitcoin equity per share through capital operations, and its sustainability depends on market premium and the extent of contraction.

MSTR's future performance hinges on three variables: bitcoin price, net bitcoin equity per share, and mNAV; as of the close on October 16, its mNAV was 1.08 times.

Bitcoin's Rise May Encourage Enterprises to Resume Buying, but Funding Difficulties Won't Return to the Easy Period

On October 20, according to Cointelegraph, Ryan Rasmussen, research head at Bitwise, stated that Bitcoin treasury company $BTC purchases overall slowed in Q3 2026, with Strategy adding a net 1,666 $BTC during the quarter, lower than the 83,901 $BTC added in Q2; other public companies added a net 5,617 $BTC, down from 45,725 $BTC in the previous quarter. He expects corporate $BTC purchases to accelerate again as early as this year.

Jag Kooner, derivatives head at Bitfinex, said that if the stock price of treasury companies regains its premium over holding value, it could retrigger share issuance for $BTC purchases, but "the likelihood of returning to last year's indiscriminate fundraising surge is low," with funds expected to prioritize mature companies with scale, liquidity, and proven track records.
