On October 20, the State Council Information Office held a press conference on the development of industry and information technology in the first three quarters of 2026.

Tao Qing, spokesperson for the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and director of the Operation Monitoring and Coordination Bureau, stated at the meeting that since the beginning of this year, the output of major nonferrous metal products has grown steadily. In the first three quarters, the production of 10 commonly used nonferrous metals reached 62.35 million tons, up 2.5% year-on-year.

From January to August, both revenue and profit in the nonferrous metals industry maintained rapid growth. The nonferrous metal mining and dressing industry achieved operating revenue of 346.1 billion yuan and profit of 140.3 billion yuan, up 31.1% and 71.8% year-on-year respectively.

Breakthroughs have been made in the preparation of materials such as lithium-rich manganese-based cathode materials and high-purity tungsten single crystals, which have been industrialized and applied. High-performance titanium alloys are helping high-end equipment such as manned submersibles and aerospace vehicles venture into the deep sea and soar into the sky.
