Young Talents from Xinjiang Excel with Five Top National Awards

On August 7th, it was reported by the Regional Women's Federation that during the recently concluded first National Youth Artificial Intelligence Competition finals held in Shanghai, the Xinjiang team delivered an outstanding performance and returned with honors. They collectively secured five first prizes, 14 second prizes, 33 third prizes, and 21 excellence awards, highlighting the significant achievements of Xinjiang's youth in science and technology education.

The Xinjiang team took a group photo at the competition, captured by Jin Xin. The finals, which ended on August 3rd, were a high-standard event listed on the Ministry of Education's national competition whitelist. Co-hosted by the China Welfare Institute and the China Women's Development Foundation, the competition boasted high professionalism and authority. With the theme "Intelligence for Good, Growth Unlimited," it called for submissions from youth nationwide, attracting 46,000 registrants. Ultimately, only 34 teams and 856 outstanding participants advanced to the national finals.

The competition featured five cutting-edge tracks: AI fundamentals, tool application, AI-driven science, embodied intelligence, and large language model applications. These tracks comprehensively assessed participants' theoretical knowledge, practical skills, cross-disciplinary research, and innovative integration abilities, making the contest highly competitive and valuable. Xinjiang sent 28 young talents to compete, with eight students from five schools, including Urumqi No. 1 Middle School, Karamay No. 7 Middle School, and Kuche No. 2 Middle School, clinching first prizes. They stood out among the 185 national first-prize winners.

During the event, Xinjiang's young competitors from diverse ethnic backgrounds stayed calm, innovated boldly, and performed steadily with solid scientific literacy and practical skills. They showcased the vibrant and pioneering spirit of the youth from the Tianshan region. The competition also featured side events such as educational innovation dialogues and industry-education-research integration workshops, which explored pathways for AI enlightenment and innovative talent cultivation for youth. Thirteen students from Kashgar were invited to join the national observation team for a study trip in Shanghai, where they immersed themselves in the competition, experienced cutting-edge technology, and engaged in red-themed study tours, effectively broadening their scientific horizons.

The Xinjiang competition segment was led by the Regional Women's Federation, with guidance from the Regional Education Department and the Regional Science and Technology Association, and support from multiple organizations. Its well-organized efforts earned national recognition. Li Linghui, Party Secretary and Vice Chair of the Regional Women's Federation, stated that the federation will continue to focus on fostering scientific and technological literacy among youth. It will build diverse, high-level platforms for scientific practice and regularly conduct AI education and innovation activities. This will steadily strengthen the foundation of youth science education in Xinjiang, unlock the creative potential of young people, and inject youthful vitality into the high-quality development of science and technology education in the region.
