Among the first batch of authorized "Henan Premium Brands," nine enterprises specializing in primary agricultural products were honored. These companies have showcased Henan's high-quality modern agricultural development through genuine expertise and innovative approaches.
At the organic rice experimental field of Jiaozuo Hanxiang Rice in Wuzhi County's Qiaomiao Town, a 50-acre paddy represents the cooperative's highest planting standards. Wang Huiping, the integrated development director of Henan Hanxiang Ecological Agricultural Cooperative, explained: "We use organic fertilizers and biogas slurry to enhance soil organic content, directly improving crop quality. Organic cultivation goes beyond merely avoiding chemical fertilizers—it involves deep knowledge of soil vitality and crop robustness."
The cooperative has focused on recycling biogas slurry from nearby livestock farms' waste treatment systems. "Applying biogas slurry through irrigation and foliar spraying boosts nutrition during the rice filling stage while leveraging its bioactive compounds for pest and disease resistance," Wang added.
Through standardized organic farming, Hanxiang Rice has gained market recognition, expanding its base to nearly 40,000 acres with an annual output exceeding 13 million kg of refined rice. It now supplies institutions like the National Museum and several airlines.
Wang Xiaofeng, the cooperative's quality control director, noted: "Market demand for healthy, flavorful rice is surging. Since being recognized as a 'Henan Premium Brand,' our brand credibility has soared, with consumers prioritizing taste and quality."
To ensure superior rice, the cooperative collaborates with research institutions on breeding innovation, establishing the Henan Japonica Rice Green Industrialization Engineering Research Center. "We've developed disease-resistant, adaptable varieties like 'Hongdao 59' and 'Hanxiang No. 9,' known for their springy texture and rich aroma," Wang Xiaofeng shared.
Meanwhile, in Luoning County's Shangge Town, Luoyang Zhongshen Agriculture's apple orchards thrive in ideal climatic conditions. Chairman Qin Bo emphasized natural farming and precision management to achieve consistent premium yields. "We prioritize the apple's original flavor. Our exported apples maintain a冰糖心 (sugar core) rate below 2%—exceeding this threshold affects export eligibility," he explained.
Rejecting excessive sugar concentration that compromises shelf life, Qin highlighted uniform sweetness and extended freshness as true quality markers. "Our apples, grown without chemicals, consistently register 14–18 Brix sweetness levels," he added.
From organic rice to eco-friendly apples, the "Henan Premium Brands" initiative reflects the province's shift from quantity-focused to quality-driven agriculture. As its influence grows, more Henan products are carving niches with uncompromising standards, propelling the region’s agricultural brand toward a brighter future.
