U.S. stock futures fell on Sunday evening as markets braced for fresh weakness in technology shares after OpenAI said it was halting development of some advanced artificial intelligence models.

Heightened tensions in Iran also weighed after U.S. President Donald Trump rejected a ceasefire proposal, with oil prices up sharply in early Asian trade.

This week’s economic highlights include the release of the personal consumption expenditures price index for August from the Bureau of Economic Analysis on Wednesday and the September jobs report, which the Bureau of Labor Statistics will release Friday.

Economists expect a 3.7% increase in the PCE from a year ago and a 3.3% increase in the core PCE price index, excluding volatile food and energy prices. The consensus among economists is that nonfarm payrolls increased 100,000 in September, while the unemployment rate stayed at 4.1%.
