On April 2, Shenzhen-based UBTECH ROBOTICS announced it is recruiting a Chief Scientist in Embodied Intelligence globally, with an annual salary starting at $2.1 million and potentially reaching $17.2 million. Notably, this compensation significantly exceeds that of similar roles at companies such as Tesla, Boston Dynamics, Tencent, and Xiaomi, making it the highest publicly advertised salary in the global robotics and AI sector. UBTECH ROBOTICS described the position as the "pinnacle for employees" in its recruitment notice. According to the announcement, the Chief Scientist will define the company’s technology roadmap in humanoid robotics and embodied intelligence, lead breakthroughs in core areas such as vision-language-action models, foundational robot models, and manipulation and dexterous skill learning, and drive the transition of cutting-edge embodied intelligence technologies from the lab to real-world applications. The role also aims to accelerate the large-scale deployment of humanoid robots across diverse scenarios, including smart manufacturing, commercial services, and home companionship. In addition, UBTECH ROBOTICS has opened dozens of other key positions, including reinforcement learning algorithm engineers, senior hardware engineers, EtherCAT master development engineers, mechanical engineers, and Rust development engineers. Public records show that UBTECH ROBOTICS was established in March 2012 and focuses on full-stack technology for humanoid robots, along with the research, design, production, and commercialization of intelligent service robot solutions for a wide range of enterprise and consumer applications. In December 2023, the company listed on the main board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, becoming the first publicly traded humanoid robotics firm.
