Recently, well-known investor Duan Yongping has been actively engaging on social media, responding to discussions about his recent reflections on several companies he holds shares in. Among these topics, he addressed his latest donation of 10,000 shares of Kweichow Moutai Co.,Ltd.

Duan Yongping stated, "There's no need to emphasize market value; in 10 or 20 years, the current market value will likely be insignificant."

On May 27, Duan Yongping donated 10,000 shares of Kweichow Moutai Co.,Ltd. to the Anfu County Charity Association without compensation.

When responding to a user's comment about the market value of the 10,000 shares on social media, Duan remarked, "I don't understand why we need to talk about 'how much the market value is.' Is there so little confidence? Market value is a fact at every moment."

In a follow-up response, Duan added, "Of course, that's also why there's no need to emphasize market value. In 10 or 20 years, the current market value will likely be insignificant."

Duan Yongping emphasizes the unit of share count, not "how many millions in market value." The reason for donating shares rather than an equivalent amount of cash is his belief that these 10,000 shares of Kweichow Moutai will be worth more in ten years. One can interpret this action from any angle, but one detail stands out: if someone's default mindset is that their holdings are "daily fluctuating quotes," they would donate cash locked at that day's price. Only when the fundamental unit of measuring wealth is "share count multiplied by long-term discounted cash flow" would one naturally say, "I'm donating 10,000 shares" instead of "I'm donating over ten million."
