Recently, Dreamax CEO Yu Hao gained significant attention after being publicly challenged by an employee. Although the incident was embarrassing, it turned out to be beneficial. Since then, Yu Hao has actively managed his Weibo account to build his personal brand as an entrepreneur. His first Weibo post was a straightforward response to the employee’s criticism.
On January 17, Yu Hao published an article titled "A Simple Response" to address the controversy. The gist of his message was: one might consider Dreamax’s ambition to become the first company in human history worth hundreds of trillions of dollars as boasting, but given enough time, Dreamax will turn these ambitious claims into reality. From that point on, he seemed to have discovered a new world, freely expressing himself on Weibo and providing netizens with plenty of amusement and topics for discussion.
From January 17 to January 26, I observed Yu Hao’s Weibo for nine consecutive days and found that the 39-year-old Tsinghua University graduate’s posts are incredibly engaging and highly entertaining. His Weibo activity exhibits three distinct characteristics:
First, he is extremely active. Yu Hao is so active on Weibo that he almost resembles a fake account. For instance, on Sunday, January 25, he posted 13 updates in a single day. In comparison, Xiaomi’s CEO Lei Jun, who is also quite active on the platform, posted only seven times that day—nearly half as many. Can you believe it?
Typically, entrepreneurs are expected to be cautious when speaking publicly. Even on social media platforms like Weibo, they should maintain a rational and restrained tone to avoid unnecessary controversy or damaging the company’s reputation. However, Yu Hao seems unfazed by such concerns, frequently updating his Weibo and speaking his mind without hesitation.
Second, he is remarkably generous. Late last year, Yu Hao announced that the company would enhance its year-end bonuses by giving each employee an additional 1 gram of gold. Screenshots revealed that Dreamax’s internal group had 18,539 members, meaning the gold giveaway cost approximately 26 million yuan. He also mentioned that he often gives out red envelopes within the company to boost morale, showcasing his generous nature.
On Weibo, Yu Hao continues this lavish trend by frequently giving away 1 gram of gold to netizens. This approachable gesture has won him widespread popularity and helped bridge the gap between him and his followers. He even changed his Weibo display name to "Yu Hao—Loves Giving Gold." Additionally, Yu Hao rewarded top-performing employees from Dreamax’s ecosystem investment team with a trip to Antarctica—by direct flight, not by ship—proving once again that he is the kind of boss everyone wishes they had.
But that’s not all. Yu Hao also plans to customize 10,000 Dreamax eggs for a giveaway. At first glance, this seems out of character with his usual extravagant style, but his declaration is anything but modest: "When I become the world’s richest man in a few years, no one is allowed to make fun of me or my silly eggs!" Let that sink in. He also intends to give away 1,000 concert tickets to employees, earning praise from netizens for his generosity.
Third, he is refreshingly candid. After observing Yu Hao’s Weibo for nine days, I noticed similarities between him and 360’s founder Zhou Hongyi, who once described himself as "unpretentious, straightforward, and a little silly." "Unpretentious and straightforward" refers to being down-to-earth, authentic, and genuine, while "a little silly" implies a lower emotional intelligence that often leads to blunt remarks. Yu Hao fits this description perfectly. For starters, he is incredibly genuine.
When a netizen asked whether Zhang Linghe’s endorsement was global or limited to Greater China, Yu Hao bluntly replied, "I don’t know—I found out about it on social media, just like everyone else." While it may seem unusual for a CEO to be unaware of such details, it also feels relatable. Yu Hao revealed that he only personally makes decisions for major events like the Spring Festival Gala and the Super Bowl; day-to-day decisions are handled by his team without his direct involvement.
Moreover, he is unapologetically expressive. Besides Zhang Linghe, Chen Feiyu is also a Dreamax ambassador. Surprisingly, Yu Hao, as the brand’s founder, openly argued with Chen Feiyu’s fans. The incident began when Dreamax’s official Weibo account announced Chen Feiyu as the brand’s high-end lifestyle ambassador for Greater China. Fans flooded the comments section with supportive messages, which irritated Yu Hao so much that he directly confronted them, stating, "I’m not always patient—I can get angry and scold people too."
Not stopping there, Yu Hao also subtly criticized New Oriental’s founder, Yu Minhong. When someone accused him of copying Yu Minhong’s idea of sending employees to Antarctica, Yu Hao denied the claim, explaining that the Antarctic trip had been planned at least six months in advance. He emphasized that he did not even join the trip and added, "Stop saying I’m like..." Clearly, he intended to distance himself from the controversial figure, demonstrating his boldness.
After outlining the three key characteristics of Yu Hao’s Weibo presence, let’s focus on the content. I’ve observed two main highlights in his posts: first, his generous giveaways, which have already been discussed; second, his active promotion of Dreamax’s business initiatives. As the company’s leader, Yu Hao uses Weibo to vigorously advocate for Dreamax, including updates on the ecosystem fund, atomic restructuring financing, and the MOVA Silicon Valley launch event.
The most significant announcement was Dreamax becoming the Smart Technology Ecosystem Strategic Partner for the 2026 CCTV Spring Festival Gala. This partnership signifies global recognition of Dreamax’s innovative capabilities, product competitiveness, and social responsibility. Reflecting on this achievement, Yu Hao wrote on Weibo, "Those who know me understand that I never boast—I always deliver on my promises!" His confident and assertive tone suggests that Dreamax will continue to thrive by leveraging the Spring Festival Gala’s influential platform.
All signs indicate that despite being the CEO of Dreamax, Yu Hao remains an unapologetically candid individual. In a corporate world dominated by mature and reserved personalities, the young and accomplished Yu Hao stands out as a breath of fresh air—down-to-earth, spirited, bold, yet pragmatic. That said, he has acknowledged that his unrestrained Weibo activity may cause trouble for the PR department or harm the company’s image, leading him to tone it down recently.
"To avoid excessive controversy, I’ll speak less from now on and focus on giving away gold here! Let the products speak for themselves, and let the business do the talking. I’ll just enjoy peacefully giving away gold!" Yu Hao remarked. Honestly, I agree that entrepreneurs should exercise caution when speaking publicly. However, I personally admire the outspoken and passionate side of Yu Hao—it’s precisely what has won him so many fans. Being overly restrained would feel unnatural, and I believe many netizens share this sentiment. What do you think?
