Chen Gang Appointed as Party Secretary and Chairman of Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding

According to an official announcement from Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. on September 1, Chen Gang, former Deputy Party Secretary and General Manager of Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding"), a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited, has been promoted to Party Secretary and Chairman of Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding.

On August 29 and 30, Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding organized a comprehensive benchmarking meeting against world-class standards and the advancement of the "15th Five-Year Plan" compilation. Chen Gang presided over the meeting in his capacity as Party Secretary and Chairman of the company.

Chen Gang's Profile: Chen Gang, of Han ethnicity, is from Wuhan, Hubei Province, born in April 1972. He began his professional career in March 2002 and completed his doctoral studies at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. From March 2002 to December 2002, Chen Gang served as a designer in the Design Department of Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. Subsequently, from December 2002 to September 2003, he worked as FPSO Project Design Manager.

Over the following years, his positions and responsibilities continuously advanced, including roles as Deputy Chief Designer for the Bozhong Project in the Design Department, Assistant Director of the Design Department and Director of the Hull Section, Deputy Director of the Design Department, Deputy Director of the Marine Engineering Department, Director of the Marine Engineering Department, and Director of the Marketing Department. Additionally, he concurrently served as Deputy Director of the Design Research Institute and Deputy General Manager of Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Marine Engineering Co., Ltd.

From October 2014 to June 2018, he served as Deputy General Manager of Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., while concurrently holding the position of Deputy General Manager of CSSC Cruise Technology Development Co., Ltd. Starting from May 2018, he served as Chief Engineer of Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., until his promotion to General Manager in September of the same year. In August 2025, he was appointed as Party Secretary and Chairman of Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd.
