Ping An Insurance (Group) Company of China Ltd. (PING AN) has recently upgraded its home-based elderly care service system. The enhanced service focuses on three core needs of seniors—healthcare, safety, and care—introducing new plans: "Illness Management," "Safety Assistance," and "Aging with Dignity." As of now, the "Ping An Butler" service has expanded to 100 cities across China, adding 25 cities in 2025 alone, marking a growth rate exceeding 33%. Additionally, nearly 240,000 clients have qualified for home-based elderly care services, with a 100% response rate for the "Smart Guardian" alert system.
Under the guidance of the national "15th Five-Year Plan," addressing population aging and promoting the coordinated development of elderly care services and industries has become a key strategic focus. Given China's "9073" elderly care model—where 90% of seniors prefer home-based care, 7% rely on community support, and 3% opt for institutional care—Ping An Good Doctor, a flagship member of Ping An's healthcare and elderly care ecosystem, has been advancing its "Integrated Finance + Healthcare & Elderly Care" strategy since 2022. The company deepens its "Insurance + Home-Based Care" model, offering seniors comprehensive, full-cycle solutions centered around elderly care butlers. By continuously analyzing seniors' daily behaviors and core needs, Ping An Home-Based Care prioritizes medical health, safety, and professional care, while also expanding into multi-modal services like "home-based + travel-based" elderly care. Beyond covering 100 cities, the service has established differentiated travel-based care bases in Huangshan (Anhui) and Yidu (Hubei).
Leveraging decades of healthcare experience, innovative AI medical capabilities, and an extensive online-offline service network, Ping An Home-Based Care has rolled out its upgraded system. The three new service plans include: (1) "Illness Management," providing longevity care, chronic disease management, and medical treatment via a doctor butler, specialist teams, and case managers; (2) "Safety Assistance," offering full-scenario aging-friendly solutions through smart guardianship and home modifications; and (3) "Aging with Dignity," ensuring seamless care transitions across hospital, home, and institutional settings. A company representative noted, "The doctor butler serves as the core hub of our service, combining medical expertise with high-quality care. Our selection process is rigorous, with all doctors holding deputy chief physician titles or higher, hailing from top-tier hospitals, and averaging over 20 years of clinical experience."
In recent years, Ping An has also extended its home-based care model to include "travel-based" elderly care. Centered on "Insurance + Wellness + Travel," this innovative approach integrates smart devices, butler services, and medical resources with specialized care bases to create aging-friendly travel products. These offerings cater to active seniors seeking alternative home-based care solutions. The representative emphasized, "Our travel-based service differs from conventional tourism. We design slower-paced itineraries for seniors to fully experience local culture and scenery while integrating healthcare support, with online doctors providing real-time health guidance."
Over four years, Ping An has established six industry standards for home-based elderly care, including the "Remote Butler Service Guidelines" and "Platform Functional Requirements," enhancing service quality and user experience. Recently, the China Quality Certification Center (CQC) awarded its "Home-Based Elderly Care Butler Service" a five-star rating. Ping An Chairman Ma Mingzhe stated, "Ensuring a happy life for the elderly is a national priority. Society must address challenges in elderly care through innovation to improve seniors' well-being." Moving forward, Ping An Good Doctor will collaborate with industry stakeholders to expand service scenarios and advance standardized, systematic elderly care solutions.
