Global IT infrastructure services leader Kyndryl Holdings (NYSE: KD) has announced the launch of a new capability called "Kyndryl AI Orchestration for Business," designed to assist companies in sectors such as retail, consumer goods, travel, and transportation in scaling their artificial intelligence initiatives from isolated pilot projects to enterprise-wide operational deployment.
A widespread challenge currently faces many organizations in their AI adoption efforts. Research indicates that 63% of companies report most AI projects stall at the proof-of-concept phase, while 68% have more pilot projects than they can scale effectively. Rachel Calhoun, Global Vice President for Retail, Consumer Goods & Travel Transportation at Kyndryl, commented, "Businesses are rapidly embracing AI, but most get stuck in siloed experiments that fail to change or improve daily operations. We aim to help them navigate AI's complexity by orchestrating the actions of AI agents across different business units, while maintaining human oversight and clear governance."
The new capability is designed to autonomously interact with AI agents across various domains including supply chain, commerce, finance, IT, and customer service, enabling cross-functional coordination and controlled execution. A key application scenario is "agentic commerce," which involves connecting supply chain, pricing, promotions, and customer engagement to help businesses forecast demand shifts and manage disruption risks. Additionally, the solution provides role-based operational orchestration, ensuring that alerts, recommendations, and action directives are delivered to the appropriate personnel, such as demand planners or supply chain leaders.
Kyndryl emphasizes that the solution is cloud and large language model agnostic, allowing for integration into a company's existing platforms and enabling modernization at its own pace. Experts from Kyndryl Consult will assist clients with design, deployment, and operations, leveraging the company's deep experience in hybrid cloud, on-premises, and edge environments to help businesses unlock data from legacy technology landscapes and transform their processes.
