Waterdrop Founder Highlights Openness and Confidence in AI Beyond Just Progress Speed

Deep News07-23

On July 23, Waterdrop Inc. Founder and CEO Shen Peng made public remarks, noting two specific details he observed in the DeepSeek V4 technical paper and the release introduction for Moonshot AI's Kimi K3.

In one instance, DeepSeek V4 included every contributor in its technical report, including those who had already left the team. In the other, the Kimi K3 release openly acknowledged a gap with top-tier models, stating frankly that while K3 is overall a highly competitive model, there remains a noticeable gap in user experience compared to Claude Fable5 and GPT 5.6 Sol.

Shen Peng revealed, "The final sentence is reportedly written by Yang Zhilin himself." He further expressed that what excites him most about China's AI today is not just the speed of progress, "but also this kind of openness and confidence."
