On December 11, JD.com and Guangdong province jointly established China's first "Modern Rider Academy" at Guangzhou Vocational and Technical University. The academy will offer training courses in drone operations, smart logistics, and other fields, aiming to create an integrated growth ecosystem for delivery riders—from skill enhancement to academic advancement, and from career specialization to professional transition.
Riders who complete specific skill training will receive either a "Vocational Skill Level Certificate" or a "Specialized Competency Certificate," which can serve as credentials for promotions or role transitions within JD.com. These certifications will also be recorded in the company's rider talent database.
One rider, Mr. Zhu, expressed enthusiasm about the initiative: "Earning money is secondary—what matters more is gaining professional knowledge and contributing to society."
The program underscores JD.com's commitment to upskilling its workforce while addressing broader industry demands for technical expertise in logistics and delivery services.
