At the 2026 (25th) China Internet Conference, held from July 8th to 10th at the Beijing National Convention Center, China Telecom Corporation Limited (CHINA TELECOM) shared significant updates on its artificial intelligence initiatives.
During a keynote speech, Luan Xiaowei, Vice President and Party Leadership Group Member of China Telecom Group, detailed the company's advancements in AI deployment.
He reported that the company has already launched more than 110 industry-specific large language models and over 350 AI agent services, which now serve over 37,000 enterprise clients.
Additionally, a trial commercial package for its AI token service has been released nationwide, with the goal of making AI technology more accessible, practical, and affordable for users.
Strategic Recommendations for the Industry
Looking ahead, Luan Xiaowei put forward three key proposals on behalf of China Telecom to partners across the industry chain.
The first initiative calls for deeper integration of computing and power resources, advocating for coordinated planning in data center siting and energy infrastructure, accelerating the adoption of green energy storage, and steering AI data centers (AIDC) toward low-carbon operations.
The second proposal focuses on enhancing the synergy between computing and network infrastructure.
This involves breaking down barriers between isolated computing clusters, implementing the "1+M+N" national computing power network framework promoted by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and enabling efficient, widespread, and equitable distribution of computing resources.
The third recommendation emphasizes the coordination between data and computing.
It supports the promotion of compliant data circulation under the ministry's guidance, the establishment of unified data governance standards, and the use of privacy-preserving computation technologies to safeguard personal information, thereby fully unlocking the productive potential of data as a key economic factor.
Commitment to National Development
Luan Xiaowei emphasized that the "15th Five-Year Plan" period represents a critical window for transformative change in the AI industry.
He stated that China Telecom remains committed to its national responsibilities and will work in concert with the entire industry chain to inject new momentum powered by digital collaboration into the nation's modernization efforts.
