Market research firm Counterpoint Research released data on the 5th stating that Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (005930.KR) ranked first in DRAM market share in the third quarter with a 38% share; SK Hynix held 29%, and Micron Technology held 21%.
According to Counterpoint Research's findings, Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (005930.KR) had ceded the top DRAM spot to SK Hynix in the first quarter of last year due to HBM supply constraints. Afterward, Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (005930.KR) successfully secured HBM supply orders from major AI chip customers and, leveraging its DRAM capacity advantages, reclaimed the number one position in the fourth quarter of last year.
Counterpoint Research noted that total global DRAM revenue in the third quarter reached nearly five times that of the same period last year, amounting to $200 billion. DRAM bit shipments grew only 4% this quarter, with revenue growth primarily driven by rising average selling prices (ASP).
