HK Stock Movement | ZHAOJIN MINING (01818) Surges Over 5% Intraday as Deep-Sea Mining Breakthrough Achieved and Spot Gold Hits Record High

Stock News2025-12-22

ZHAOJIN MINING (01818) rose over 5% intraday, and as of the latest update, it was up 4.2% at HKD 31.72, with a trading volume of HKD 197 million.

On the news front, spot gold surged strongly in early trading on December 22, surpassing the historical high set on October 20 and reaching a new record. As of the latest update, it was trading at USD 4,383.22 per ounce, up over 1%. Goldman Sachs reiterated its bullish stance on gold in its latest report, predicting that gold prices could hit a historic high of USD 4,900 per ounce by December 2026. This forecast is based on two key drivers: structural demand from emerging market central banks increasing gold purchases to hedge geopolitical risks, and cyclical tailwinds from the Fed's rate-cutting cycle, which is expected to drive ETF inflows and tighten supply-demand dynamics in the physical gold market.

Notably, ZHAOJIN MINING's subsidiary, Rui Hai Mining, recently achieved a breakthrough in deep-sea exploration by successfully locating concealed ore bodies at depths of up to 3,000 meters. This marks another significant milestone in the company's mining exploration efforts. A previous research report by First Shanghai highlighted that due to the large-scale and high-grade nature of the offshore gold deposit, the comprehensive production cost per gram is expected to be among the lowest in the industry, giving the company strong market competitiveness and positioning it as a core driver for future growth.
