Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index was down 1.03% in the final hour of trading. Mainland China's CSI 300 index fell 0.79% to 4,908.53 points.
In the early hours of Tuesday, U.S. forces conducted what the Pentagon described as a "defensive" strike in southern Iran, targeting missile launch sites and Iranian vessels suspected of laying mines. U.S. officials maintained they were acting with restraint within the ceasefire framework.
This military action highlighted the fragility of the U.S.-Iran truce, with both sides continuing to test boundaries even as the White House indicated negotiations were nearing completion.
President Trump stated on Monday that talks to end the war with Iran were "progressing well," while also warning that the U.S. could launch an offensive if negotiations collapsed.
