Shares of Li Auto-W (02015) advanced more than 4% during Wednesday's afternoon trading session, with the stock last changing hands at HK$49.78, up 4.10%, on turnover of HK$428 million.
The move comes after Sunwoda Electronic Co., Ltd. announced on September 4 that its subsidiary, Sunwoda Power Technology Co., Ltd., plans to undertake a Series C++ capital increase, bringing in Beijing Li Auto Co., Ltd. as a strategic investor. Under the proposed terms, Beijing Li Auto will inject 2.65 billion yuan to subscribe for new shares in Sunwoda Power, representing an 8.79% stake. Following the transaction's completion, Li Auto will hold an aggregate 11.17% interest in the battery subsidiary.
Li Auto stated that this strategic investment is not purely a financial play, but rather a move to establish deeper long-term strategic alignment across battery technology, manufacturing quality, and user value. The investment is expected to strengthen the automaker's influence in battery technology development and production standards, facilitate the high-quality rollout of non-standardized battery solutions, and lay a more solid foundation for next-generation product R&D and rapid iteration cycles.
