Commercial Space Sector Surges in Hong Kong Afternoon Session Following Successful Controlled Rocket Landing

Stock News13:43

The commercial aerospace theme experienced a significant surge in the Hong Kong stock market's afternoon session.

As of writing, DRINDA (02865) shares soared 27.3% to HK$23.78, APT SATELLITE (01045) jumped 17.09% to HK$2.74, and GOLDWIND (02208) rose 15.06% to HK$11.23.

The catalyst for the rally stems from a major technological achievement.

On July 10, 2026, the Long March 10B carrier rocket successfully launched from the Hainan Commercial Space Launch Site.

Approximately six minutes after stage separation, the rocket's first stage executed a controlled vertical landing and was successfully recovered on a sea-based platform.

This milestone signifies that China has become the second country globally, after the United States, to master large-payload reusable rocket technology, and notably the first to achieve a net-based recovery system for launch vehicles.

Analysts view this breakthrough in reusable rocket technology as a pivotal turning point for the commercial space industry's transition towards large-scale, cost-effective operations.

The industry's development logic is expected to unfold along a clear trajectory: cost reduction via reusable rockets, accelerated deployment of satellite constellations, the formation of integrated space-air-ground networks, and the subsequent expansion of downstream application scenarios.

In the near term, launches of vehicles like the Long March 10B and Zhuque-3 are anticipated to provide significant catalysts for the sector.

Over the medium term, the networking of major satellite constellations like GW and Qianfan is projected to steadily drive demand for satellite manufacturing and launch services.

Looking further ahead, long-term applications such as 6G integrated space-air-ground networks, space-based computing, space-based solar power, and in-orbit servicing continue to open up vast future market potential.
