Following the latest announcement from the National Development and Reform Commission, retail fuel prices in Shanghai will be adjusted upward from 24:00 on August 28th. This adjustment aligns the city with the national pricing mechanism.
Under the new rates, 92-octane gasoline will be priced at 8.05 yuan per liter, while 95-octane gasoline will cost 8.56 yuan per liter. Diesel fuel (0-grade) will be sold at 7.74 yuan per liter. For a typical family car with a 50-liter fuel tank, filling up with 92-octane gasoline will now cost approximately 15 yuan more than before the increase.
It should be noted that 98-octane gasoline prices are determined independently by enterprises rather than set by the government. Furthermore, the listed prices for gasoline and diesel correspond to products that meet the national sixth-stage mandatory standards—specifically, ⅥB for vehicle gasoline and Ⅵ for vehicle diesel.
The adjustment takes effect immediately as the clock strikes midnight, impacting motorists across the city who fuel up at both state-owned and private petrol stations. This price revision reflects broader changes in the global oil market and domestic refining costs, as tracked by the national pricing system.
