On October 29, the 2026 Yichang Fourth Primary and Secondary School Students' Mathematics and Science Culture Activity and Artificial Intelligence Education Achievement Exchange Seminar was held at the Yichang No. 1 High School. At the event, Yichang's "Eight Measures" for empowering education and teaching through artificial intelligence were released, aiming to empower high-quality educational development.
Regarding the full offering of general artificial intelligence education courses, the "Yichang Primary and Secondary School Artificial Intelligence General Education Curriculum Guidelines" will be formulated to build a tiered and progressive curriculum system. Primary schools will focus on perception and experience, junior high schools on understanding and application, and senior high schools on integration and innovation. Class hours will be coordinated, ensuring no fewer than 4, 5, and 6 class hours per semester for artificial intelligence education in primary, junior high, and senior high schools respectively.
In promoting artificial intelligence-empowered teacher instruction, the "Yijiaotong" intelligent teaching assistant for teachers will be built and put to good use. Teaching tools such as intelligent assistants for pre-class lesson preparation, smart classroom evaluation during class, and precise grading of after-class assignments will be promoted to help teachers reduce burdens, improve quality, and increase efficiency. A "three-teacher classroom" collaborative model involving teachers, students, and artificial intelligence will be constructed, creating an artificial intelligence-empowered "vivid classroom." One hundred demonstration lessons integrating artificial intelligence will be selected across different grade levels and subjects.
In advancing artificial intelligence-empowered educational research, a new paradigm of data-driven and human-machine collaborative teaching research will be established. Each year, 20 special projects on artificial intelligence education will be approved citywide, 10 "open competition" application scenarios for artificial intelligence education will be set up, and artificial intelligence education will be included in the municipal teaching achievement award category. A team of full-time and part-time artificial intelligence education researchers will be established, ensuring at least one person per county or district.
In promoting artificial intelligence-empowered educational evaluation, the concept of health first will be implemented. Artificial intelligence will be used to support physical health monitoring, artistic literacy assessment, and experimental skills operations, providing support for students' physical and mental health and personalized development. Exploration will be made in analyzing and evaluating students' learning quality and effectiveness. Starting from the spring of 2027, artificial intelligence literacy will be included in the comprehensive quality evaluation of students.
To enhance teachers' artificial intelligence literacy, projects such as "leading geese guiding the way, strong geese assisting the voyage, and young geese testing the waters" will be implemented to cultivate a backbone team of artificial intelligence teaching teachers. Layered and categorized training will be conducted for all staff, with national, provincial, and municipal training covering no fewer than 1,000 person-times annually.
To expand artificial intelligence education application scenarios, schools will be supported in actively exploring "artificial intelligence plus off-campus practice." Compulsory education schools will add at least one new artificial intelligence-themed after-school service project each year. Exploration will be made of family AI laboratories under the "education consortium" model involving schools, families, and society, forming an education ecosystem that connects in-class and out-of-class learning and coordinates schools, families, and society.
To improve artificial intelligence education equipment and facilities, the "Yichang Artificial Intelligence Education Equipment Construction Guidelines" will be formulated to clarify equipment standards for artificial intelligence education in primary and secondary schools. Smart campuses and future learning spaces will be built in a coordinated manner. By the end of 2028, one artificial intelligence education space will be achieved per school in urban areas and one per township in counties and cities.
To improve the guarantee mechanism for artificial intelligence education, a promotion mechanism featuring municipal coordination, county and district implementation, and school execution will be established, with key support for curriculum development, equipment updates, teacher training, project research, and competition displays.
