Jakota Capital sets 9% long-term carbon-intensity reduction target as FY2026 ESG metrics improve sharply

Bulletin Express07-29 21:24

Jakota Capital (Holding) Group has released its Environmental, Social and Governance Report for the year ended 31 March 2026, detailing new climate targets, a refined governance structure and markedly lower resource consumption following the disposal of its fur business.

Governance and risk oversight • The Board now formally embeds climate issues into strategic reviews, receives semi-annual climate updates and has mandated an ESG Taskforce drawn from key departments. • Climate-related risks are mapped across acute physical, chronic and transition categories; quarterly monitoring is in place, though quantitative scenario analysis and internal carbon pricing have not yet been adopted.

Climate targets and transition plan • Intensity-based goals (baseline FY2026) call for 3% cuts in energy, waste and Scope 1 & 2 GHG intensities in the short term, 6% in the medium term and 9% in the long term. • Current goals cover Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions; Scope 3 targets will be introduced by 2027. No carbon credits or dedicated climate capex have been budgeted at this stage.

Environmental performance FY2026 • Scope 1 & 2 emissions dropped 70.26% to 35.32 tCO₂e (FY2025: 118.72 tCO₂e) after the exit from diesel-powered fur operations; total emissions including initial Scope 3 disclosures were 38.89 tCO₂e. • Electricity usage fell 68.49% to 95,106 kWh, cutting energy intensity to 2,215 kWh per employee (FY2025: 5,268 kWh). • Water consumption declined 52.31% to 8,218 m³; office paper waste fell 39.29% to 0.68 tonnes. • Air-pollutant emissions were negligible, with NOx at 0.21 kg and SOx below 0.01 kg. No hazardous waste was generated.

Social indicators • Headcount stood at 44 (FY2025: 65) after business realignment; turnover was 32%, with male and Hong Kong staff showing the highest exit rates. • Around 140 training hours were delivered, averaging 3.18 hours per trained employee; 100% of middle management and 125% (due to overlap) of senior management received training. • No work-related fatalities or injury-related lost days were recorded for the third consecutive year.

Compliance and ethics • Zero cases of non-compliance were identified across environmental, employment, health & safety and anti-corruption areas. • All 11 directors and 19 employees completed AML, KYC and virtual-assets training (33 and 57 hours respectively). A confidential whistle-blowing channel is operational.

Supply chain and community engagement • The Group engaged nine core suppliers, all located in mainland China, and applies environmental and social criteria in selection and monitoring. • Community contributions totalled HK$128,688, including sponsorship of cultural-care and local welfare programmes.

Jakota Capital stated that its new ESG framework positions the business for long-term resilience while supporting Hong Kong’s carbon-neutrality pathway. Further enhancements—including Scope 3 target setting and potential external assurance—are scheduled for review over the next reporting cycle.
