Atlanta Federal Reserve Bank President Raphael Bostic stated that he anticipates no interest rate cuts in 2026. “I did not expect any rate cuts at that time,” Bostic said on Monday, referring to the dot plot released by the Fed in mid-December. “I believe the momentum of economic growth is quite robust, and we need to maintain the policy rate at a moderately restrictive level,” he remarked during an event hosted by the Atlanta Rotary Club. “In my forecast, perhaps one or two rate cuts would bring us back to a neutral rate level. If we were to do that, it would be challenging to return inflation to the target, and even more difficult to keep it on a path back to the target.” Bostic is set to retire at the end of February. Fed official Bostic advocated for holding rates steady, citing persistently high inflation.
