The US Department of Justice has raised questions about how NVIDIA (NVDA)'s acquisition of open-source platform Hugging Face would affect competition in the artificial intelligence sector, as antitrust enforcers continue to pursue a multi-year investigation into the chip designer's conduct.
The Justice Department's recent inquiries cover NVIDIA (NVDA)'s acquisitions, investments and sales practices, as well as whether the company pressured customers. Regarding the Hugging Face deal, Justice Department officials asked whether the acquisition would give NVIDIA (NVDA) control over a foundational distribution channel in the AI field. A spokesperson added that "under President Trump's leadership, this Justice Department will continue to prioritize advancing superintelligence for the benefit of the American people."
