China Everbright Bank's Compliance Chief Pledges Unwavering Implementation of Regulatory Mandates

Deep News08-28

At the 2026 interim results conference held on August 28, China Everbright Bank Company Limited's Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer, Yang Wenhua, emphasized that compliance serves as the bedrock of a bank's stable operations. He stated that the promulgation and implementation of the "Measures for Compliance Management of Financial Institutions" hold significant importance for the compliance management of financial entities, providing fundamental guidance for banks to enhance their lawful and compliant operational standards. In his capacity as Chief Compliance Officer, he expressed a firm commitment to fulfilling compliance management duties and further consolidating the bank's compliance defense line to safeguard high-quality development.

Addressing regulatory requirements and the bank's specific circumstances, Yang outlined three key focus areas. First, he underscored the need to ensure the effective implementation of new compliance regulations. Since the new rules came into effect, the bank has been diligently advancing their implementation, including establishing foundational compliance management systems, refining the compliance organizational structure, and appointing compliance officers for tier-one branches. The next phase will concentrate on strengthening execution and the tangible effectiveness of compliance management, adopting a "nail-spirited" approach to guarantee that regulatory requirements are meticulously implemented without gaps or compromises. The bank has systematically reviewed all execution-level requirements, formulating both a task list for work execution and a duty list for compliance officers to better facilitate compliance work across the institution.

Second, Yang emphasized the enhancement of compliance culture development. The bank will comprehensively advance compliance publicity and education initiatives across all levels, processes, and areas, crafting an annual bank-wide compliance training plan. This aims to integrate principles such as "compliance starts from senior management," "all-staff proactive compliance," and "compliance creates value" into internal mindsets and external actions, cultivating a compliance culture that deters violations, prevents violations, and promotes a reluctance to breach rules.

Third, he highlighted the push for digital and intelligent transformation in compliance management. The bank plans to further strengthen departmental coordination and technological empowerment by embedding compliance requirements throughout all operational and management activities from technical, data, and process perspectives. Leveraging intelligent platforms, the bank will continue to refine the application of large model technology in legal and compliance reviews to continuously improve management efficiency. Additionally, it will reinforce the interaction between intelligent compliance controls and business systems, fostering a virtuous ecosystem where technology empowers compliance, and compliance, in turn, enhances business management.
