National Development and Reform Commission Forecasts Continued Price Stability Within Reasonable Range

Deep News05-22

It was learned from a press conference held by the National Development and Reform Commission today that, with the in-depth implementation of a series of macroeconomic policies, the supply-demand relationship in China's market is expected to further improve. It is projected that prices will continue to operate within a reasonable range.

In April, China's Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 1.2% year-on-year, maintaining a mild growth rate above 1% for the third consecutive month. The Producer Price Index (PPI) has also risen for two consecutive months, reflecting changes in demand across related sectors.

Regarding CPI, driven by holiday effects such as the Qingming Festival, the May Day holiday, and spring breaks in some regions, residents' travel demand increased. Prices for services such as tourism, hotel accommodation, and vehicle rentals rose more than the seasonal average.

In terms of PPI, the acceleration of green transformation and the rapid development of artificial intelligence have spurred demand growth in related industries.

Overall, prices in April continued the moderate recovery trend observed since the second half of last year, sending positive signals of improved supply-demand dynamics and optimized market order.

Looking ahead, although uncertainties remain in international energy price trends, the Chinese economy possesses strong resilience. The supply capacity of goods and services markets is ample, providing a solid foundation for maintaining overall price stability. With the deepening implementation of a series of macroeconomic policies, the market supply-demand relationship is expected to further improve, and prices are projected to continue operating within a reasonable range.
