On July 23rd, the "Advanced Training Course on Intellectual Property Innovation for Specialized and Sophisticated 'Little Giant' Enterprises in 2026" concluded successfully.
The course was jointly organized by the Shanghai Service Center for SME Development, the Shanghai Intellectual Property Service Center, and the Shanghai Institute of Science and Technology Management Cadres. Zhao Guangzhou, Deputy Director of the Shanghai Service Center for SME Development; Fang Fang, Deputy Director of the Shanghai Intellectual Property Service Center; and Gu Lingli, Vice President of the Shanghai Institute of Science and Technology Management Cadres, attended the closing ceremony.
This training program ran for six days in total, with instruction delivered in two phases. Participants delved into twelve specialized courses under two core themes: "Intellectual Property in Emerging Fields and AI Driving New Quality Productive Forces" and "Intellectual Property Offense, Defense, and Value Transformation from a Global Perspective." They also conducted field visits to key platforms and enterprises, including the Shanghai Disruptive Technology Innovation Center, Rockwell Automation, and SenseTime, for learning exchanges. This approach comprehensively strengthened their foundational knowledge of intellectual property, helped them grasp related risks, enabled better IP strategic planning, and promoted the practical application of IP assets.
At the closing ceremony, participants were divided into four groups to give on-site presentations and share insights on topics such as case analyses of SME intellectual property planning and IP strategy formulation for small and medium-sized enterprises. The groups delivered outstanding and insightful performances, fully demonstrating their learning outcomes, which received unanimous praise from the panel of reviewing experts.
The organizing bodies offered development suggestions and high expectations for the participating enterprises. The Shanghai Service Center for SME Development stated that innovation is the foundation of specialized and sophisticated enterprises. It hopes SMEs will anchor their efforts on technological and industrial innovation, building core competitiveness through intellectual property. The center will further strengthen IP policy promotion, focusing on precise empowerment, and guide SMEs to leverage policy benefits effectively, acting as a solid support for enterprise innovation and development.
The Shanghai Intellectual Property Service Center noted that intellectual property talent is the primary resource for developing the IP industry and a crucial intellectual pillar for fostering new quality productive forces. It expressed hope that this training would serve as a new starting point, transforming learning outcomes into tangible results for enterprise growth, and continuously enhancing the capacity to create, utilize, protect, and manage IP assets.
The Shanghai Institute of Science and Technology Management Cadres stated that as a base for training science and technology talent, the institute will provide support for cultivating talent in innovative enterprises. It hopes participants will gain practical knowledge and apply it, translating the training results into concrete achievements in their work performance, and playing a leading and exemplary role in their respective positions.
It is reported that since the launch of this series of training programs, a total of 255 specialized and sophisticated "Little Giant" enterprises have participated in the learning, significantly empowering their innovation capabilities. Going forward, the Shanghai Service Center for SME Development will continue to collaborate with various stakeholders, actively promoting enterprises' ability to create, apply, manage, and protect intellectual property, thereby leveraging IP to drive high-quality enterprise development.
