Institutional Focus: China Everbright Bank Hohhot Branch Advances Inner Mongolia's New Power Grid Development Through Strategic Network Initiatives

Deep News09-10

Recently, China Everbright Bank Company Limited's Hohhot branch disbursed an additional CNY 200 million in project loans to a power enterprise in Inner Mongolia, bringing the total outstanding balance to CNY 1.46 billion to support local grid connection projects and expansion and renovation works. This move reflects a deep commitment to implementing the spirit of the Central Financial Work Conference, bearing in mind national priorities, and aligning with the nation's 15th Five-Year Plan strategy while actively participating in the construction of the "Six Networks" and serving the modern infrastructure system—demonstrating the political and people-centered nature of financial work.

Inner Mongolia operates the only independently managed provincial-level power grid enterprise in China, shouldering the crucial responsibility of grid construction and operation in the western region, making it the core entity for new energy base development and green power consumption assurance. Leveraging the region's energy resource advantages, the Hohhot branch has deepened comprehensive strategic cooperation with local grid companies and branches of central power enterprises, significantly increasing credit support in the energy sector. As of the end of August, total credit extended to the power industry reached CNY 28.4 billion, with a credit exposure of CNY 24.7 billion. The bank has provided loan backing for numerous key grid projects, effectively safeguarding the upgrade of the regional main grid and the construction of new energy transmission supporting facilities, thereby contributing financial strength to protecting national energy security and supporting the region's energy economy transformation.

Focusing on green and low-carbon development, the bank is driving the construction of a new power system through financial innovation. In the current year, it participated in a syndicated loan for a 1.2 million kilowatt pumped-storage project in the region, securing a share of CNY 658 million. This supports the Inner Mongolia grid company in fulfilling tasks such as peak shaving, valley filling, energy storage, frequency regulation, phase modulation, and emergency standby, effectively promoting the consumption of new energy and accelerating the development of the regional energy storage system.

Extending the industry chain, the bank is leveraging digital finance to smooth the energy-people's livelihood cycle. Around the electricity tariff payment supply chain scenario, it has innovatively launched specialized supply chain finance products—"Electricity Tariff Notes" and "Electricity Tariff Certificates." As of the end of August, cumulative disbursements have reached CNY 720 million, effectively alleviating financing difficulties for upstream and downstream small and medium-sized enterprises in the power sector. Leveraging the advantages of the Everbright Cloud Payment platform, the bank has achieved deep integration into power payment scenarios. Over a decade of dedicated service in the region's C-end payment (personal payment) sector, cumulative payments have hit CNY 48 billion. This year, it successfully launched B-end payment (corporate payment) services, using digital finance to enhance the quality and efficiency of power services for people's livelihoods, making financial services warmer and closer to the people.

Anchoring its strategic course, the bank aims to achieve greater results in serving the high-quality development of Inner Mongolia's energy economy. The "Six Networks" represent a major national strategic deployment for the 15th Five-Year Plan period, with the new power grid serving as the core carrier of new energy infrastructure and being the most critical network for Inner Mongolia to fulfill its energy base construction tasks. Moving forward, the Hohhot branch will revolve around the local independent grid and the "Five Major and Six Small" energy enterprises, focusing on core areas such as energy consumption, energy storage construction, and computing-power coordination. It will actively explore an integrated financial service model of "green power plus intelligent computing," contributing Everbright's strength to the high-quality development of Inner Mongolia's energy economy and writing a resolute chapter in serving national strategy through practical actions.
