Major stock indices in Japan and South Korea opened trading on a positive note.

The Nikkei 225 index commenced the session 0.6% higher at 64,544.05 points, led by gains in financial sector shares.

Similarly, South Korea's benchmark KOSPI index also opened 0.6% higher, reaching a level of 6,553.88 points.
