On January 22, at the 15th Philanthropy Festival Awards Ceremony, the Beijing Gaotu Foundation was honored with the "2025 Education Philanthropy Contribution Award" for its sustained commitment and innovative practices in the field of educational philanthropy. The foundation's initiator, Chen Xiangdong, Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Gaotu Techedu Inc. (NYSE: GOTU), attended the event and delivered a keynote speech titled "Tech for Good: When Philanthropy Meets AI."
Since its establishment, the Beijing Gaotu Foundation has consistently focused on educational equity, actively exploring new philanthropic models that integrate "AI + Education" and striving to provide systematic and sustainable support for regions with scarce educational resources. To date, the foundation has implemented philanthropic projects across 611 districts and counties nationwide, reaching 13,005 schools and benefiting over 90,000 teachers and students.
Its flagship initiatives include "The Birth of a Great Lesson," which empowers rural teachers and enhances their instructional capabilities; "My AI Science Class," a collaboration with Project Hope to bring engaging science courses to children in rural areas; and the "Gaotu Ladder" university student employment program, which supports youth career development and bridges the "last mile" from campus to the workplace.
While accepting the award, Chen Xiangdong expressed with emotion, "Education is the warmest force for changing destinies. This honor belongs not only to Gaotu but also to every partner silently dedicating themselves on the front lines of educational philanthropy. It inspires us to remain true to our original aspiration, using technology to empower education so that more children can share in high-quality resources."
In his subsequent speech, he further elaborated on the core philosophy of Gaotu's philanthropic efforts: "The essence of education is to ignite hope, and the core of philanthropy is to gather goodwill. We adhere to the principles of 'empowerment through technology and long-term companionship,' providing not just materials but capabilities. We enhance teaching quality through teacher training, bridge the digital divide with online classrooms, and promote students' holistic development through comprehensive literacy courses."
Chen Xiangdong recalled, "From the very beginning of Gaotu's entrepreneurial journey in 2014, we established our founding principle: doing education well is, in itself, the greatest act of philanthropy." He emphasized that the foundation will continue to deepen the integrated model of "Technology + Education + Philanthropy," exploring more replicable and sustainable philanthropic pathways to inject lasting momentum into the promotion of educational equity and high-quality development.
As one of the most influential annual events in China's philanthropic sector, this year's Philanthropy Festival attracted participation from over 1,000 enterprises and organizations. Notably, Gaotu Techedu Inc. was also recognized for its outstanding performance in the field of philanthropic technology, simultaneously receiving the "2025 Philanthropy Technology Award."
As the awards ceremony concluded, a new philanthropic journey has already begun. The Beijing Gaotu Foundation will continue to collaborate with forces from all sectors of society, deepening its commitment to educational philanthropy to ensure the light of quality education illuminates more corners and warms the growth paths of more children.
