The precious metals sector showed strength on Friday, with Coeur Mining (CDE.US) rising more than 7%. Pan American Silver (PAAS.US) advanced over 4%, while Newmont Mining (NEM.US), Barrick Mining (B.US), and Agnico Eagle Mines (AEM.US) each gained more than 3%. The movement followed a sharp increase in gold and silver prices. Spot gold climbed over 3% to $4,538.25 per ounce, and spot silver rose more than 4% to $71.19 per ounce.
