Recently, the Liangzhou District Trade Union Council in Wuwei City, Gansu Province, delivered 120,000 yuan in mutual aid insurance compensation to Master Chen's family, who had fallen into difficult circumstances. "I truly never expected that the mutual insurance gifted by the union at the beginning of the year would provide us with such significant help at this critical moment!" expressed an emotional Master Chen upon receiving the compensation.
Employee mutual aid保障 is often referred to by workers as "secondary medical insurance." The journey from a free 120-yuan policy to 120,000 yuan in union assistance originated from a project launched in Gansu Province earlier this year titled "Carrying out Care and Concern Actions for Workers in New Employment Forms, Providing Mutual Aid保障 Services for 10,000 People." This project was listed as one of the 10 practical livelihood matters that the Gansu Provincial Party Committee and Government pledged to fulfill by 2025, with the Gansu Provincial Federation of Trade Unions taking the lead in its implementation. In Wuwei City alone, 700 workers in new employment forms received this gifted insurance and participated in health check-ups, with Master Chen being one of the beneficiaries.
During the project's implementation, the Gansu Provincial Federation of Trade Unions established a special task force for care and concern work, allocating dedicated funds to gift mutual insurance while also arranging for mobile medical examination vehicles to provide door-to-door services. By mid-November 2025, the project had been fully completed, delivering the "double gift" of health examinations and mutual aid保障 to 10,000 workers in new employment forms across the province.
Concurrently, trade unions at various levels in Gansu have also attracted a cumulative total of 149,100 workers in new employment forms to participate in mutual aid保障 through a "special subsidy + personal contribution" model. The Wuwei City Federation of Trade Unions has actively promoted specialized mutual insurance plans, characterized by low enrollment thresholds and substantial coverage, targeted at workers such as truck drivers, ride-hailing drivers, couriers, and food delivery personnel, striving to build an effective line of defense against risks for them.
In the early winter of 2025, truck driver Master Chen from Liangzhou District was unfortunately involved in a severe traffic accident while on a delivery trip. The sudden tragic news plunged his family into immense grief and hardship. Upon learning of the incident, the Liangzhou District Trade Union Council quickly intervened, proactively assisting his family in preparing the necessary documents and promptly coordinating with the Lanzhou Office of the Chinese Workers' Insurance Mutual Aid Association. Utilizing an online "one-click processing" system, they facilitated the delivery of the 120,000 yuan mutual aid payment directly into the family's hands.
