China Eastern Airlines Reports 14.68% Increase in February Passenger Traffic

China Eastern Airlines (00670) announced that in February 2026, its passenger capacity, measured in available seat kilometers, increased by 12.79% year-on-year. Passenger traffic, measured in revenue passenger kilometers, rose by 14.68% compared to the same period last year. The passenger load factor reached 86.54%, an increase of 1.42 percentage points year-on-year. In February 2026, cargo and mail traffic, measured in cargo and mail ton kilometers, grew by 33.88% year-on-year.

During February 2026, the company launched new routes, resumed services, and increased flight frequencies in domestic and international regional markets. In the domestic market, new routes included Shanghai Hongqiao to Changbaishan, Chengdu Shuangliu to Changchun, Changchun to Xiamen, Kunming to Jiaxing, and Wuxi to Xishuangbanna. Resumed routes included Shanghai Hongqiao to Qionghai, Shanghai Pudong to Tengchong, Shanghai Pudong to Yichun, Chengdu Shuangliu to Ningbo, and Jinan to Chengdu Shuangliu. Increased flight frequencies were applied on routes such as Shanghai Hongqiao to Jieyang Chaoshan, Shanghai Hongqiao to Guiyang, Shanghai Pudong to Haikou, Beijing Daxing to Chengdu Shuangliu, Beijing Daxing to Haikou, and Guangzhou to Chengdu Shuangliu.

In international and regional markets, a new route was launched from Shanghai Pudong to Phu Quoc Island. Flight frequencies were increased on routes including Shanghai Pudong to Singapore, Shanghai Pudong to Chiang Mai, Shanghai Pudong to Kota Kinabalu, Shanghai Pudong to Phuket, Shanghai Pudong to Ho Chi Minh City, Shanghai Pudong to Hanoi, Shanghai Pudong to Bangkok, Chengdu Tianfu to Bangkok, and Nanjing to Kuala Lumpur.

In February 2026, the company did not introduce any new aircraft but retired two A320 series aircraft. As of the end of February 2026, the company operated a total fleet of 823 aircraft.
