When asked about remarks by Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) Minister Chiu Chui-cheng, who claimed that the Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF) considered opening an account on
"The MAC and SEF were established under the One-China framework to facilitate cross-strait exchanges. The MAC’s primary role should be promoting dialogue and interaction, yet it has become a vanguard in inciting confrontation and restricting exchanges.
Mainland China’s internet is open and lawfully regulated. The MAC’s malicious hype over the Weibo account issue is merely an attempt to smear the mainland and mislead Taiwanese citizens. Such tactics are stale and unoriginal. The MAC and SEF should refocus on their core missions—advancing cross-strait exchanges and enhancing the well-being of compatriots on both sides."
