On the morning of August 8, the Yangzhou Vocational University gymnasium was bustling with activity as the 2026 Summer Comprehensive University Job Fair kicked off, hosted by the Yangzhou Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau. Over 100 high-quality enterprises set up booths, offering nearly 3,000 positions. Among the job seekers was Meng Yuan, a recent graduate from Gaoyou who studied electrical automation at Yancheng Institute of Technology. He said he received a text message about the recruitment event and made a special trip, standing at the booth of Yizheng Yaopi Glass to hand his resume to the HR manager.
This marks the first time Yangzhou has organized a comprehensive job fair specifically for university students during the summer break. "Choosing to launch in the early August 'golden period' bridges the end of the graduation season and provides a valuable 'second chance' for students who haven't yet secured jobs through postgraduate entrance exams or civil service exams," explained Gao Zhan, director of the Yangzhou Human Resources Market Management Office. The event featured key enterprises from fields such as AI cultural creativity, automotive parts, high-end equipment, and fine chemicals. Notably, high-paying positions with annual salaries exceeding 150,000 yuan accounted for over 30% of the total, while high-quality employers like central state-owned enterprises, listed companies, and high-tech enterprises made up nearly 80% of participants, demonstrating strong commitment to attracting talent.
The rise of emerging industries injected new vitality into the job fair. The booth of "Record Time," a recently established AI short video company in Yangzhou, attracted a crowd of inquirers. The company, in collaboration with the Yangzhou Big Data Group, is about to release its first local AI short video. "We urgently need AI video editors and scriptwriters, but it's hard to find experienced professionals immediately," admitted Zhang Hui, the company's HR manager. To address this, the company has introduced a "self-training" approach, offering complete AI hands-on training upon joining, allowing even beginners to get started, with post-probation salaries ranging from 5,000 to 20,000 yuan.
In contrast to the "new" focus of emerging sectors, advanced manufacturing companies showed expansion needs. Yizheng Yaopi Glass, where Meng Yuan applied, has released hundreds of job openings due to a new plant expansion. "We offer monthly housing subsidies of 1,000 to 1,500 yuan, full reimbursement for accommodation and meals during internships, and career development paths for both vocational and undergraduate graduates," the on-site recruitment manager explained. The positions are open to graduates in materials, mechanical engineering, and other STEM fields, with starting salaries from 6,000 yuan, and outstanding candidates can directly interview with the CEO for placement.
"Compared to online recruitment platforms, this summer offline job fair is highly efficient and is expected to relieve the recruitment pressure before the new plant starts production at the end of August," said the manager. To address the "slow employment" mindset of some students, a special job internship zone was set up. Internship positions offered by companies like Yangzhou Longchuan Energy Equipment Co., Ltd. became very popular. "During the internship, we provide a basic living allowance of 3,000 yuan, without social insurance, and retain the graduates' fresh graduate status, giving them confidence to gain work experience and 'try out with pay'," said Wu Zhiguo, the company's HR manager.
A digital recruitment platform supported the entire process. At the fair, job seekers could scan a QR code to upload their resumes instantly, and the system would automatically match them with suitable positions, enabling "offline face-to-face and online round-the-clock" recruitment. According to statistics, over 1,800 job seekers visited the event, and nearly 1,000 initial employment intentions were reached on-site.
