12,000-Square-Meter "NEXT" Themed Space Debuts, Revitalizing Chengdu's Qingyang District

Deep News06-25

A new themed space named "NEXT" has officially opened within the Jinsha International Mall in Chengdu's Qingyang District.

This project integrates two major components: the Xidan Shopping Center and the Juran Home furniture and home goods market, which has served residents in western Chengdu for nearly two decades since its opening.

Focusing on the "smart home" vertical, the development has adopted a light-touch "micro-renovation" approach to pursue a differentiated transformation path.

According to a representative from Jinsha International Mall, the transformation involved a comprehensive upgrade of the first-floor space and the external plaza of the existing Juran Home area, creating the new "NEXT" zone spanning approximately 12,000 square meters in total.

Rather than opting for large-scale demolition and reconstruction, the project focused on precise upgrades to the existing commercial base, aiming to enhance its value through spatial reorganization and business format optimization.

Positioned as a "one-stop immersive technology experience," the revitalized "NEXT" space features several core business formats designed to align with new consumption trends.

The smart home ecosystem is the central anchor, with leading brands across categories such as whole-home smart systems, intelligent lighting, and smart audio-visual equipment establishing a presence, offering scenario-based "what you see is what you get" experiences that lower the barrier for consumer decisions.

Sectors for smart digital products and new energy vehicles further enrich the project's technology-focused offerings.

This renewal initiative represents a successful case of Qingyang District's efforts to revitalize older commercial buildings.

In advancing its "Hundred Buildings Renewal" plan, the district has implemented a combined strategy of "policy leverage and institutional support," using financial incentives and systemic innovation to address obstacles in the renewal process.

Financially, Qingyang District has explored using policy to stimulate market participation.

By introducing measures to promote the high-quality development of the building economy and characteristic commercial streets, it has established a model where "property owners contribute some, capital invests some, and the government subsidizes some," leveraging limited fiscal funds to attract greater social capital.

In 2025, the district's provision of renovation subsidies directly catalyzed 4 billion yuan in social investment.

Institutional innovation has addressed challenges in ensuring smooth implementation.

Concurrent with the launch of the "Hundred Buildings Renewal" plan, a dedicated task force for the high-quality development of the building economy was established in Qingyang District to coordinate overall efforts and resolve major issues during renovations.

In 2025, the district focused on advancing 47 renovation projects, renewing 170,000 square meters of space and revitalizing 30,000 square meters of commercial property.

The overall occupancy rate for buildings in the district remains above 80%, gradually forming a new building economy pattern characterized by "industrial agglomeration and functional integration."

In September 2025, Qingyang District was selected as one of China's "Top 30 Benchmark Districts for Building Economy Development Index," ranking 15th nationally.

Its "Hundred Buildings Renewal" initiative was also recognized as a Chengdu business reform and innovation case, serving as a model for improving the quality and efficiency of existing urban space in central city areas.
