Singapore's sovereign wealth fund GIC has announced a restructuring of its senior investment leadership team, involving the promotion of three veteran executives from its private equity, fixed income, and multi-asset divisions. These changes are set to become effective on October 1, 2026.
Choo Yong Cheen, the current Chief Investment Officer for Private Equity, will take on the additional role of Deputy Group Chief Investment Officer. In this expanded capacity, he will oversee all private market asset classes, including private equity, real estate, infrastructure, and the Integrated Strategies Group which focuses on unconventional investment opportunities.
Liew Tzu Mi, the current CIO for Fixed Income & Multi-Asset and Director of the Portfolio Execution & Solutions Group, will be appointed as Deputy Group CIO. She will retain her leadership of the Portfolio Execution & Solutions Group but will step down from her FIMA CIO role. Notably, her new responsibilities will include overseeing overall portfolio research and strategy, a move seen as complementing her existing execution-focused role and leveraging her extensive portfolio management experience to enhance capital allocation and strengthen the link between portfolio strategy and implementation.
Liang Jiajie, the current Deputy CIO for Fixed Income & Multi-Asset, will be promoted to CIO for that division while continuing his role as Global Head of Macro. Having served as Global Head of Macro since 2018 and as Deputy FIMA CIO since April 2026, Liang has been a key member of the FIMA leadership team for nearly a decade, contributing significantly to capabilities in multi-asset macro investing, systematic strategies, and credit.
