On January 19th, at a press conference held by the State Council Information Office, Kang Yi, Commissioner of the National Bureau of Statistics, presented the performance of the national economy for the year 2025. According to preliminary calculations, China's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for 2025 reached 140.1879 trillion yuan. Calculated at constant prices, this represents a year-on-year growth of 5.0%.

By industry, the added value of the primary industry was 9.3347 trillion yuan, an increase of 3.9% over the previous year; the added value of the secondary industry was 49.9653 trillion yuan, up by 4.5%; and the added value of the tertiary industry reached 80.8879 trillion yuan, growing by 5.4%.

On a quarterly basis, the gross domestic product saw a year-on-year increase of 5.4% in the first quarter, 5.2% in the second quarter, 4.8% in the third quarter, and 4.5% in the fourth quarter. Sequentially, the fourth-quarter GDP grew by 1.2%.

In 2025, confronting complex shifts in both domestic and international economic conditions, China's national economy advanced under pressure, steering toward innovation and optimization. New achievements were made in high-quality development, and the major annual targets for economic and social development were successfully accomplished, marking a victorious conclusion to the 14th Five-Year Plan period. During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, China's economic aggregate successively surpassed the milestones of 110 trillion, 120 trillion, 130 trillion, and 140 trillion yuan.
