According to data released on February 3rd by the Zhengzhou Municipal Bureau of Statistics in Henan Province, the city's regional Gross Domestic Product (GDP) surpassed 1.5 trillion yuan (RMB) for the first time in 2025, reaching 1,524.46 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 5.4%. The "2025 Zhengzhou Economic Performance Report" published that day highlighted the rapid development of the micro-drama industry as a significant bright spot in the city's economic growth for the year. From January to November of that year, the operating revenue of Zhengzhou's designated large-scale enterprises in radio, television, film, and sound recording production, multimodal transport and freight forwarding, and business services increased by 60.7%, 23.2%, and 17.3% year-on-year, respectively. The micro-drama industry experienced high-speed development, with the operating revenue of the film and television program production sector surging by 119.8% year-on-year. The vitality of cultural and tourism consumption was also unleashed, as operating revenue for artistic creation and performance rose by 30.4% year-on-year. Currently, Zhengzhou is fully committed to building itself into the "Capital of Micro-Drama Creation," having successively issued policy documents such as the "Opinions on Accelerating the High-Quality Development of Zhengzhou's Micro-Drama Industry" and the "Implementation Plan for Building Zhengzhou into the 'Capital of Micro-Drama Creation' (2025-2027)," aiming to develop the city's "vertical studio" industry. These documents outline the goal of expanding the city's micro-drama market scale to 10 billion yuan by 2027. Public data indicates that in 2025, Zhengzhou-based companies occupied 5 spots in the national top 20 ranking of micro-drama producers by activity level. In the first ten months of the same year, over 4,900 micro-drama series produced in Zhengzhou were released online.
