CITIC Bank Expects Net Interest Margin to Stabilize Through Proactive Management of Assets and Liabilities

Deep News15:20

On November 3, a financial news report stated that CITIC BANK (ASX: not applicable) held its 2026 third-quarter results briefing today.

The head of the Asset and Liability Department noted that in a declining interest rate environment, the banking industry as a whole still faces pressure of narrowing net interest margins. At present, asset prices remain in a downward range, and as existing high-yield assets gradually mature, loan renewals will drive down the asset yield of the banking industry.

On the liability side, high-cost three-year deposits are concentrated in maturity this year, and the scale of subsequent maturities will gradually decrease, with the pace of price declines narrowing, leaving limited room for further decline in liability costs.

Regarding CITIC BANK's own situation, the official stated that through strengthening proactive management of both assets and liabilities, the bank expects its net interest margin to stabilize going forward: on the asset side, CITIC BANK will optimize its major asset structure and proactively ease the pressure of declining yields; on the liability side, it will continue to promote steady growth of low-cost settlement deposits to broaden room for cost reduction.
