NRG Energy Appoints Energy Sector Veteran Glenn Wright to Board as Independent Director

NRG Energy Inc has announced the appointment of Glenn Wright as an independent director of the company, effective May 26. The addition of Wright brings the total number of board members to eleven.

Wright brings over 25 years of extensive experience in the energy sector. Most recently, he served as Senior Vice President of Shell Energy Americas and President and CEO of Shell New Energies US at Shell, where he led the expansion of renewable power generation business and provided integrated energy solutions to customers across North and South America. Previously, he held the roles of Vice President of Shell Energy Trading Americas and President and CEO of Shell Energy North America, overseeing wholesale power and natural gas trading operations in both North and South America.

Antonio Carrillo, Chairman of the NRG Board, stated that Glenn's deep experience in power markets and customer energy solutions, coupled with his strong track record in managing complex portfolios, will provide valuable perspective as NRG continues to advance its strategy. This follows the company's appointment of Sanjay Kapoor to the board in February of this year.

NRG has demonstrated solid recent financial performance. The company has reaffirmed its full-year 2026 guidance, with adjusted EBITDA projected to be between $5.325 billion and $5.825 billion, and adjusted earnings per share expected to range from $7.90 to $9.90. For the first quarter, adjusted EBITDA was $1.08 billion, with adjusted earnings per share of $1.49. The company has increased its dividend for six consecutive years, with the current dividend yield standing at 1.42%.
