On April 20, BYD's Ocean Series launched the all-new Sea Lion 05, an "urban smart and fun SUV." The EV version has an official price range of 119,900 to 145,900 yuan, while the DM-i variant is priced from 97,900 to 127,900 yuan. The model introduces five core advantages: appealing design, enjoyable driving dynamics, intelligent driving assistance, spacious comfort, and comprehensive safety, redefining value standards in the A-class SUV segment.
Equipped with second-generation Blade Battery technology and rapid charging capabilities, the Sea Lion 05 EV offers two CLTC range options of 540 km and 630 km. It supports ultra-fast charging, enabling significant range replenishment in just a few minutes, effectively addressing range anxiety and long charging wait times for EV users. The DM-i version provides CLTC pure-electric ranges of 220 km or 305 km—exceeding most competitors—allowing for predominantly electric urban commuting with minimal fuel consumption. Its combined range reaches up to 2,105 km, with a low fuel consumption of 3.1 L/100 km under NEDC standards.
An optional advanced driver-assistance system, featuring a lidar sensor, enhances driving convenience with functions such as urban and highway navigation assist, emergency steering assist, and full-scenario obstacle avoidance. The updated smart cockpit includes a 15.6-inch touchscreen, an upgraded user interface, and deep integration of navigation and connectivity features.
The Sea Lion 05 introduces new exterior colors and interior finishes, along with a redesigned center console and over 30 storage spaces. Its dimensions are 4,620 mm in length, 1,860 mm in width, and 1,630 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,770 mm for enhanced interior space.
Standard features exceed 100 items, including an intelligent damping suspension system and a tire blowout stability control system. The EV model also incorporates an intelligent torque control system for improved safety and handling. Additional comfort and convenience features include cornering assist lights, a wide-angle A-pillar design, a multi-directional dashcam, emergency rescue services, power tailgate, driver seat memory, and magnetically mounted accessories.
The Sea Lion 05 EV also offers a 110-liter front trunk, six unlocking methods, an adjustable temperature-controlled compartment, and a passenger seat with zero-gravity reclining function.
