From April 23 to 24, a joint initiative by the Changsha Municipal Publicity Department, the Changsha Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, and the Political Work Office of the Changsha Garrison Command organized a national defense education and training program for newly recruited staff of municipal public institutions in 2026. Participants underwent intensive national defense education and ideological training, laying a solid foundation for building a team of public institution cadres with strong political commitment, comprehensive quality, and a sense of loyalty and responsibility.
The training closely followed the requirements for comprehensive national defense education in the new era, addressing the needs of public servants in their professional development. It focused on key topics such as national defense policies and situations, relevant laws and regulations, civil-military support initiatives, and military-civilian integration. Through a combination of lectures, on-site teaching, and practical experiences, the program guided participants to deeply understand the close connection between national defense construction and local development, as well as national security and public welfare, helping them fasten the "first button" of their careers.
The training featured diverse formats and a vibrant learning atmosphere. At the Lantian National Defense Education Center, a provincial-level national defense education base, participants visited exhibition areas including the National Defense Education Hall, Public Safety Experience Hall, and Vehicle Museum. They listened to explanations, viewed historical materials, and engaged in immersive learning about defense history and revolutionary memories, fostering patriotic enthusiasm and strengthening national defense awareness through experiential education.
During the thematic lecture session, Yu Xudong, Head of the Furong District People's Armed Forces Department, analyzed the essence of national defense construction in the new era in an accessible manner. Based on the current international and domestic security situation and his own work experience, he delivered a lecture titled "Always Be Vigilant, Strategize for National Stability," guiding participants to recognize security challenges, establish bottom-line thinking, and maintain a broader perspective of national interests.
After watching the film "National Heroes, the Motherland Remembers You," the audience responded with warm applause. One participant remarked, "Witnessing the heroic deeds of those who stood up for national peace and global security was deeply moving and inspiring." Trainees widely acknowledged that the program was thought-provoking and impactful, giving them a genuine appreciation for the value of peace and the critical importance of national defense. They expressed commitment to maintaining vigilance, embracing responsibility, and translating their learning into motivation for diligent and proactive work in their future roles.
National defense education is a mandatory component of pre-employment training for new public institution staff. Following the training, participants' performance in national defense education will be included in their comprehensive pre-employment assessment. Only those who pass the assessment will be formally appointed, ensuring the effective implementation and tangible outcomes of the national defense education initiative.
Moving forward, the Changsha Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau will continue to strengthen collaboration with the Changsha Municipal Publicity Department and the Political Work Office of the Changsha Garrison Command. Efforts will include integrating high-quality red education resources, developing specialized national defense education platforms, and creating refined training courses to enhance the relevance and effectiveness of national defense education. Additionally, national defense education will be incorporated throughout the entire training cycle for public institution staff, embedding national defense literacy into pre-service training, on-the-job training, and annual assessments. This approach will promote the regular and long-term integration of national defense education, continuously guiding public servants to fulfill their duties with strong ideological commitment and excellent conduct, thereby fostering mutual empowerment and coordinated development between regional defense education and cadre team building.
